National Knitting Week 12-19 October 2008: Plan A Knitting Event And Raise Money For Bliss

The UK Hand Knitting Association and Knitting Magazine have joined forces once again to teach the nation how to knit and this year they plan to raise money fo BLISS at the same time.

Nottinghamshire

Wednesday 15 - 18 October: Knit A Square For Charity 9.30am - 5.00pm

Yarn, 55 Chilwell Road, Beeston, Nottinghamshire. NG9 1EN

To help support National Knitting week we will be knitting (and hopefully getting as many of you as possible to knit or crochet) squares that will be donated to Framework a local charity working with the homeless. The squares will be sewn together to create scarves which Framework will wrap and give as gifts to those who are homeless this Christmas. We'll provide yarn, needles and refreshments  to anyone who would like to come and sit and knit a square with us anytime. Any additional donations would be gratefully received and we would just ask that they are 15cm (6") square and made from a machine washable yarn.

12 - 19 October: Knitting Events At Avicraft Wool Shop

Avicraft Wool Shop,15 Chatterton Road, Bromley, Kent BR2 9QW

Knit and Natter: Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th, Thursday 16th, Friday 17th 10.30am - 12.00pm

Knitting Lessons: Monday 13th, Tuesday 14th, Thursday 16th, Friday 17th 5.00pm 6.00pm

Yarn Swap Night: Monday 13th from 7.30pm

Ride On A Knitting Tram: Saturday 18th

Please join us by knitting a square of yarn measuring 50cm x 100cm as we try to make a giant blanket for the final day of Knitting Week to use on a Tram that will be running just for knitters

Monday 13 October: Cakes, Coffees and Crafts 10.00am - 3.00pm

1 Golding Gardens, East Peckham, Tonbridge, Kent, TN12 5PB

Come and have a cup of coffee, sample some delicious cakes, have a natter and browse handknitted items for presents (as Christmas will soon be here).  All proceeds from coffee and cakes will go straight to Bliss and handknitted items will range from 20-50% of the proceeds going to Bliss.
